There's a lot of confusion out there so I want to clarify where we are with SoccerCity. City Council voted yesterday against a special election for the Convention Center. While a vote FOR a special election for the Convention Center would have helped us, the vote against it certainly doesn't kill our project. We have our chance to make our voices heard next Monday at the City Council meeting. The council had some understandable reasons for not accepting the Convention Center request but those reasons do not apply to our project.
So you know, WE WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING FOR YOU. Hundreds of thousands of San Diegans have told us they want SoccerCity and we owe it to all of you to keep representing you, the people. We need everyone to keep inundating their City Council members with emails, calls, tweets, etc. to let them know that we want to be able to vote on this.
We will be back with more updates throughout the week and we can't wait to see you all at the City Council meeting next Monday, June 19th.
